Who writes this

Craig Muirhead

Founder of Mr Blood Sugar. Not a doctor — and this page exists so you never have to wonder about that.

The plain version: Mr Blood Sugar is the cartoon. I'm the person behind him. I have no medical training and no clinical qualifications. What I do is read the research carefully, explain it in plain English, cite exactly where every claim comes from, and refuse to overstate what the evidence actually says.

Why a name on the page matters

Health information online has an accountability problem. Plenty of sites publish under a brand name, a mascot, or no name at all — which means when something is wrong, there's nobody to be wrong. That's a bad deal for readers.

So the articles on this site are written by a real person with a real name, running a real registered company (MR BLOOD SUGAR LIMITED, New Zealand). If something here is inaccurate, misleading, or out of date, it's mine to fix — and you can tell me directly.

What I am, and what I'm not

When a question genuinely needs a clinician, the honest answer is "ask your doctor" — and you'll find that sentence throughout this site, because it's often the true one.

How the articles get written

The process, in order

Where I've changed my mind or corrected something, I'd rather say so than quietly edit. And where a topic sits outside what I can responsibly cover — anything diagnostic, anything about managing medication — I leave it alone.

Where the mascot fits

Mr Blood Sugar — the calm cartoon drop with the clipboard — is the voice of the brand, and he's staying. Metabolic health is a topic that makes people anxious, and a friendly guide lowers the temperature in a way a wall of text can't. But a mascot shouldn't be the one taking responsibility for health claims. He's the delivery. I'm the accountability.

Commercial honesty

This site is intended to be supported by affiliate links eventually — that's the business model, and you deserve to know it. The rules I hold myself to: any page containing affiliate links says so clearly on that page; nothing gets recommended that I wouldn't stand behind on the evidence; and no company pays for a mention or a placement here. At the time of writing, the links on this site are plain links and earn nothing.

Everything on Mr Blood Sugar is educational content only. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified healthcare professional. Always talk to your own doctor about your health, your medications, and your results.
